Lil of NerdSlimers.com Grand Prize Winner CV Children's Business Fair. It was a great day at the La Quinta Park in California. The kids all had to set up the booths themselves, NO PARENTS allowed to help in the manufacturing of the product or setting up and designing the booth. A great event for all the kids involved.
On February 3, 2018 from 10 am – 1 pm the 1st annual La Quinta Children’s Business Fair hosted 19 young entrepreneurs at La Quinta Park (78468 Westward Ho La Quinta, CA) This event was FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and had a large turnout with over 100 people.
Kids created a product or service, developed a brand, built a marketing strategy, and then opened for customers at this one-day marketplace. The children were responsible for the setup, sales, and interacting with customers, and any parent seen selling to the customer or promoting the child’s product will result in disqualification from the competition.
One previous competitor from 2009, Makaila Ulmer of Bee Sweet Lemonade, now 10 years old, will be on hand to promote other children in their business efforts. Mikaila’s Bee Sweet Lemonade is now sold in Whole Foods Market here in Texas as a result of her young business savvy.
This event was sponsored by Desert Valley Creative Learning Collaborative, Acton Academy, the Acton School of Business, and the generous support of our donors and volunteers, who all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation.
Whether an entrepreneur is famous, like Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey, or one of the thousands of unsung business owners across this country, these entrepreneurs are the people who make sacrifices to innovate, create jobs, and serve their communities.
“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s business innovators and leaders. The Children’s Business Fair gives students the opportunity to spread their entrepreneurial wings and get a head start on promising business careers,” said Jeff Sandefer, founder of the Acton School of Business, one of the sponsors of the fair.
What a great day for the NerdSlimers!
